MISAAL MUMBAI PROJECT

“Misaal Mumbai” is an initiative by Artist Rouble Nagi. It started after Paint Dharavi in 2018 in Mumbai. Soon became Misaal India working across the country.

The main aim of Misaal Mumbai is not to only colour/beautify the walls. The main aim is to connect to people through Art, bring a positive change in their mindset. Educating through art about the importance of Children Education, empowering Women, creating Job opportunities for Youth, Cleanliness, Hygiene, Sanitation, Waste Management- say No to Plastic & Children health in Slums & Villages.

Colours will fade in a few years but the positive change we want to bring in peoples mind will stay forever & encourage many more.

We will be doing this with the help artists, locals, and residents. We have trained some of the younger volunteers from art colleges in painting workshops and ended up employing students volunteers to join the initiative.

The result will be an explosion of rainbow hues that would be visible from far away, stretching from one dwelling to the next in a wave of unexpected energy.

It is a quick way to create visual impact. Our projects will also employ people and give them a sense of ownership over the artworks they create in their own community while improving the condition of their houses.

Colourful surroundings will change the lives of the local community. The main goal is to give life to the slum and keep it clean and hygienic. Everything will be bright and colourful. We merely want to create interventions, that hopefully ignite some other change.

In the end, we hope our Project “ MISAAL MUMBAI” will help others to set up projects of their own, be it Mumbai or anywhere else in India. Its the first slum painting initiative in India. We have painted and repaired more than 1,50,000 plus homes to date and are currently working in over 163 slums and villages across India. Do Visit our Misaal Mumbai Website for more details.

The Rouble Nagi Art Foundation is engaged in a various effort to uplift underserved communities across India, particularly focusing on New Delhi, Kashmir, and other regions facing socio-economic challenges. Through initiatives like sanitary napkin distribution and menstrual hygiene awareness drives, RNAF addresses the pressing issue of menstrual health while breaking taboos and promoting access to essential hygiene products for women. Simultaneously, RNAF fosters educational empowerment through fun learning programs for underprivileged children, integrating them into the mainstream educational system and providing opportunities for personal and academic growth. Additionally, RNAF empowers communities through holistic approaches, including providing school benches in Kashmir to improve learning environments and conducting nationwide art workshops to nurture creativity and self-expression among children. Moreover, engagement with children and women for fostering understanding, empathy, and skill development is commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and gender equality. Through open dialogues, workshops, and awareness campaigns, RNAF strives to create a more inclusive and harmonious society where everyone feels empowered and valued.

Empowering women with skills, provide education to underprivileged children through art, and promote health and hygiene initiatives. In 2023-2024, RNAF has made significant strides in transforming communities and improving lives through their impactful programs.

Snippet 2022

Rouble Nagi Art Foundation held hands of those who needed a sense of direction, guidance, help, and were in need. Through various initiatives over the year, we walked along children helping them cope in education, perform well in both academics and co-curricular, and inspire them to keep themselves engaged in the process to attain good quality education; motivate the youth to stay motivated, dedicated, and be perseverant through various youth empowerment workshops; encouraged our rural women to become Atma-Nirbhar by upskilling their talents and giving them platforms within their communities to provide a financial helping hand in the family, become self-employed and earn independently; spread awareness on various social causes like menstrual hygiene, tree plantation, women empowerment, importance of work, etc.
